Weekend at Papa's

On September 21, we headed to Papa's for another weekend visit. This was also the weekend we were scheduled for our annual family photo shoot, which was being done by a Murfreesboro photographer. The shoot wasn't until Sunday, so Papa had made plans for a fun-filled Saturday. We loaded up and headed out for Rock Island State Park for an all day visit. The park is beautiful and has lots of waterfalls. The kids had a ball playing by the water's edge.
Who knew throwing rocks into the water could be so much fun??

I know it's a bit fuzzy, but this was one of my favorite pics of the day

The kids finally began to wear down so after stopping a great little cafe for some lunch, we headed back to Papa's for the evening. Of course the kids slept the whole way back so they were ready to go again once we got back.

We spent the rest of the afternoon playing outside and enjoying the beautiful weather. We didn't get to see Nana on this trip as she was in Mississippi with her mother, but we look forward to seeing her next time.
We packed up the next morning so we would be ready to hit the road once our photo shoot was done. I'll save those photos for my next post.
Thanks again for another great weekend Papa and we look forward to doing it again soon. We love you!

Blessed

All of these photos were taken on a couple of Sundays before church. We are blessed beyond words and I'm so thankful for the many blessings we have been given, especially these two sweet kiddos.
Can't imagine life without them!

Happy Birthday Layla!

On August 25th, our sweet baby girl turned 2. We had her party at our house and just like last year, it was a small gathering of mostly family. We were grilling hot dogs for lunch and then having cake and ice cream afterwards.
I just love how her cake turned out. Thanks Wendy for another amazing cake!
(If you look closely, you can see where little fingers have already been in the cake. They were waiting the moment I took it out of the box and I guess the temptation was just too much to contain!)

Birthday Girl!
She has been asking for weeks about her "parkly tutu" as she calls it and she was so excited that it was finally time to put it on.

Just so you know, we didn't intentionally leave out the birthday girl. She was playing on the stairs behind us and refused to come down for a picture.

She loves the icing!

She wanted everyone to enjoy the yummy icing!

I think she was singing with Grandma in this one

Too much birthday!

My guys

Happy Birthday sweet girl! We can't believe how fast these 2 years have gone and I know they will only get faster from here. You are full of personality and you definitely keep us on our toes! You have made our little family complete and we can't imagine life without you. We love you baby girl!

1st Day of School

On August 15th, our sweet boy had his first day of Kindergarten. He had been looking forward to this for weeks so I was happy he was excited.
Just FYI, the white around his lips is from the powdered sugar doughnuts he insisted on having for breakfast!

Mommy's little man, dressed and ready to go.
Where has the time gone?

He had a wonderful first day of school and has done great every day since. He loves his teacher (Mrs. Tammy Boyd) and Parker Jerrolds seems to be his new running buddy in class. The year is off to a good start so far!
